The Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office announced Sunday that Howard Jansen III and Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick have been formally charged with the murder of 3-year-old Olivia Jansen. They are each charged with first degree murder, aggravated endangerment of a child, and criminal desecration.

Both were already in custody on 48-hour holds. With the filing of charges, they are now being held on $500,000 bonds.

District Attorney Mark Dupree did not provide additional details on the investigation, which is still ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office or the TIPS Hotline.

Howard Jansen reported his daughter, Olivia, missing on Friday. He initially claimed that when he woke around 5:30 a.m. he had discovered the front door open and Olivia missing. An Amber Alert was issued and a search involving multiple agencies continued throughout the day. Olivia’s body was found Friday evening after a tip led police to a walking trail in the area of 34th and Steele.

The charging documents can be read here.
