After more than two decades, the Star Spangled Spectacular has grown into the region’s largest fireworks display. This year, the skies over Corporate Woods will remain dark, as the city of Overland Park has announced the cancellation of the event.
Event organizers had originally planned to downsize the event from a day-long festival to a fireworks-only display, encouraging guests to follow CDC guidelines for social distancing and face coverings. The recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the area led them to re-evaluate the health risks and prompted cancellation of the show.
