Hospitilization Surges with over 6,000 new patients after COVID-19 Spreads through Texas.

ABC 13 is reporting that 6,975 new cases have been reported in Texas on Tuesday June 30. After Gov. Abbott closed bars last week and decreased restaurant capacity back to 50%, the efforts have not slowed the spread of the novel coronavirus. Masks have not been mandated in Texas, like in other states with lower cases such as New York, Conneticut, and New Jersey who have also imposed travel bans. Individual stores require masks, but the state as a whole has take abysmal prevention steps.

As such, 620 more patients were admitted in the Texas Medical System as of June 30 and have brought the state's hospitilizations up to 6,533.

According to John Bishop of KHOU, the progression of COVID-19 in Texas is as follows:

"Tuesday, June 30, 2020 Today, Texas reports 6,975 more confirmed cases of COVID-19. A new single day record in Texas. The previous 7 days: Monday - 4,288 Sunday - 5,357 Saturday - 5,742 Friday - 5,707 Thursday - 5,996. Wed. - 5,551 Tue. - 5,489 A total of 45,105 cases."

And as a total, Bishop reports that "Overall, as of 6/30, Texas has reported a total of 159,986 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 72,744 currently active cases 84,818 people who have recovered [and] 2,424 deaths."

Jeremy Wallace, a Houston Chronicle political reporter and commentator reports that "[The number of new cases] is more than double the hospitalizations from 10 days ago and is up 323% since Memorial Day."

Now, Texas has topped Italy as a global epicenter for COVID-19 positive casews, and officials say it's not over yet. More precautions are needed, more than wearing masks and social distancing; bars, restaurants, and public gathering places should be closed and restricted to slow the spread of the virus. Those who must work and cannot do so remotely are concerned about bills and supporting their families during the virus, but the US government needs to step in so that the virus does not claim more unnecessary lives.
