Late Friday afternoon, the Camden County Health department announced that a Boone County resident who tested positive for COVID-19 visited the Lake of the Ozarks over Memorial Day Weekend.
“Due to the need to inform mass numbers of unknown people, we are publicly releasing the following timeline, which was provided by the case,” Health Director Bee Dampier stated in a press release.
On Saturday, May 23, between 1:00 and 5:00 PM, the positive case visited Backwater Jacks, the site of the infamous pool party that gained national attention when a video shot at the event went viral. They then went to Shady Gators and Lazy Gators Pool from 5:40 to 9:00 PM before returning to Backwater Jacks from 9:40 to 10:00 PM.
On Sunday, May 24, the case was at Buffalo Wild Wings in Lake Ozark from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, then went to Shady Gators from 2:30 until around 7:00 PM before taking a cab from Shady Gators to a private home.
The case was apparently asymptomatic on Saturday. They began showing symptoms on Sunday, so was likely infectious on Saturday as the illness incubated.
Earlier in the week, officials in St. Louis and Kansas had requested that people who attended the pool party at Backwater Jacks self-quarantine for 14 days. Anyone who may have been in any of the places visited by the positive case is asked to monitor for symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath, body aches, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of taste or smell. If you develop symptoms, contact your physician and isolate until test results are known.
