(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The winners of the $1000 Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Parent Association scholarships have been announced. Seniors Manoela Dos Santos and Morgan Kirchman were the winners.

In order to win Parent Association scholarships Mustangs had to embody every aspect of LRHS’s mission statement- “Students who recognize and achieve their maximum potential through academic excellence, personal integrity, and responsible citizenship.”

Dos Santos and Kirchman were the ones who stuck out the most within the 20 applicants. Jackie Breiner from the LRHS Parent association said, “Manoela has maintained a 4.5 GPA and countless community service hours, all while being involved in several different clubs and activities.”

Breiner also said, “Morgan also has an impressive 4.4 GPA and hundreds of community service hours. She was also involved in different clubs and organizations during her time at LRHS.”

While typically the recipients would be announced at the Senior Awards Banquet at the Ranch due to COVID-19 they had to be announced differently this year. With permission of the girl's parents, the LRHS Parent Association drove to both girls houses and presented the scholarship to them, along with balloons and a poster.

In the fall Dos Santos will attend Emory University to major in chemistry, and Kirchman will go to Florida State University to study education.
