The Coast Guard swiftly mobilized in response to a fire that erupted on Oceanside Pier Thursday afternoon, following a report from the Oceanside Fire Department. The blaze, believed to have originated from a vacant restaurant on the pier, prompted a coordinated emergency response involving multiple agencies.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center were alerted to the fire by the Oceanside Fire Department. Immediately, the Coast Guard Cutter Sea Otter, an 87-foot patrol boat homeported in San Diego, was deployed to the scene. The crew of the Sea Otter quickly initiated response efforts using pumps and hoses to combat the blaze.
In addition to the Coast Guard's efforts, members of the California Fire Department and San Diego Sheriff’s Department also arrived at the scene to provide assistance and support in managing the fire.
Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries as a result of the fire. The prompt and coordinated response by the Coast Guard and other responding agencies has been instrumental in containing the situation and ensuring the safety of individuals in the vicinity.
