Amazon has decided to terminate its drone delivery program in Lockeford, California, after nearly a year and a half of operation. Lockeford was one of two cities where the online retail giant launched its air delivery initiative back in 2022.
The decision to discontinue the program in Lockeford comes as Amazon reevaluates its resources and strategic priorities for future growth. In a statement, Amazon indicated that they are focusing their efforts on expanding and enhancing the drone delivery program in other locations.
Although the drone delivery service will no longer be available in Lockeford, Amazon reassured customers that they will continue to explore innovative delivery solutions and expand operations in other areas.
Currently, Amazon is maintaining its drone delivery services in College Station, Texas, the other city where the program initially launched, and plans to introduce the service in new locations in 2025.
Simultaneously with the announcement of the closure in Lockeford, Amazon disclosed its plans to launch air deliveries in West Valley, Arizona, situated just outside the city limits of Phoenix.
