Chicago police report fatal shooting incident in South Side Chicago neighborhood
Three men fell victim to gun violence, with two tragically losing their lives, as reported by the Chicago Police Department (CPD).
According to authorities, law enforcement officers responded to a distress call in the early hours of Saturday, directing them to the 2500 block of East 83rd Street.
The victims, who were standing outside on the sidewalk, were ruthlessly targeted by an assailant who opened fire on them, resulting in devastating consequences.
One victim, aged 42, succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound to the neck, pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, aged 37, was discovered deceased at the scene, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
Another 42-year-old victim sustained critical injuries after being shot twice in the chest, requiring immediate transport to the University of Chicago Hospital for urgent medical attention.
At present, no suspects have been apprehended or motives identified. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, led by Area Two Detectives.
