Senate leader says Volkswagen workers win with union vote
The Chair of Tennessee's Senate Democratic Caucus is lending her voice to workers seeking to organize a United Auto Workers (UAW) union at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga.
Sen. London Lamar of Memphis issued a statement of support for workers ahead of the unionization vote this week at the Chattanooga plant.
“Unlike Tennessee’s governor, we applaud Volkswagen workers for engaging in the democratic process and we would welcome the UAW’s expansion in Chattanooga," Lamar said.
“The sky is the limit for Volkswagen in Tennessee when workers have a seat at the table and share in the company’s success. A good job has always meant dignity and security for a family — and that’s worth fighting for.”
