Open access creates opportunities for scientific collaboration

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has entered into a publishing agreement that will create Open Access (OA) to scientific publications.

Oak Ridge joins four other national laboratories (Argonne National Laboratory, Idaho National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory) in the agreement with IOP Publishing.

The agreement will make research from scientists at the labs open and accessible at no cost to the researchers or to potential collaborators.

Promoting open access to research is a key goal of the Biden Administration, with the White House's Office of Science and Technology supporting and promoting open access initiatives, such as this agreement involving Oak Ridge.
