Morris County law enforcement officials report the arrest of a 41-year-old man on multiple charges including luring and attempted aggravated sexual assault of minors.
BOONTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Clifton resident, Brian Stewart, 41, has been arrested and charged with multiple serious offenses stemming from his alleged interactions with two children. Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Boonton Township Police Chief Thomas L. Cacciabeve announced the charges, which include luring, attempted aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to the authorities, between March 18 and March 27, 2024, Stewart allegedly engaged in sexual communications with the minors through KIK Messenger under the username "Brian Being Brian." He is accused of arranging to meet the children in Boonton Township with the intent to engage in sexual activities.
The charges against Stewart include two counts of second-degree luring, four counts of second-degree attempted aggravated sexual assault, one count of second-degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Following the allegations, Stewart has been detained at the Morris County Correctional Facility in accordance with the Criminal Justice Reform Act, pending further court proceedings. The ongoing investigation involves multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Boonton Township Police Department, the Town of Boonton Police Department, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit.
