Three juveniles are currently in police custody following a high-speed chase that unfolded late Monday night, originating from Michigan City.

The incident commenced around 10:15 p.m. after authorities received a report of a shooting in the area. State Police initiated a traffic stop on a suspected vehicle, but the driver refused to comply, igniting a pursuit.

The chase ensued onto I-94, traversing into Porter County, where it culminated in a dramatic crash as the vehicle attempted to maneuver in the wrong direction on an entrance ramp.

Amidst the chaos, one passenger managed to flee the scene, while the remaining suspects, aged 17, 15, and shockingly, 12, were apprehended by law enforcement officers.

The trio now faces a litany of charges, including theft of a firearm, auto theft, resisting law enforcement, and reckless driving. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working diligently to ascertain the full extent of their involvement in the incident.

The reckless actions of these juveniles serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by irresponsible behavior on the roads. Their reckless disregard for public safety not only jeopardized their own lives but also endangered the lives of innocent bystanders.

While the precise circumstances leading up to the incident are still under investigation, one thing remains clear: swift and decisive action by law enforcement personnel ensured that these individuals were swiftly apprehended and taken off the streets.

As the legal process unfolds, the community can take solace in knowing that these individuals are being held accountable for their actions, and measures are being taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
