Coordinated search efforts led by the San Pablo Police Department were conducted near the area of initial recovery in the City of Alameda, in relation to the ongoing investigation of homicide victim Que Tran, whose DNA was recently matched to an unidentified body recovered from the Alameda/Oakland estuary on September 30, 2023.
In March 2024, San Pablo Police Detectives received confirmation that DNA evidence gathered during a homicide investigation matched the profile of Que Tran. This development prompted further investigative efforts to locate and recover Tran’s remains.
Assisted by numerous agencies including the City of Alameda Police Department, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, East Bay Regional Parks Police Department, CalOES, and Contra Costa County District Attorney Investigators, the San Pablo Police Department coordinated search operations today in the vicinity of the initial recovery site. However, at this time, no further information regarding the results of today’s search has been disclosed.
The search for Que Tran’s remains remains an active and ongoing investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information pertinent to this case to contact the SPPD Investigations Division at 510-215-3150.
The investigation into Que Tran’s homicide is part of a larger case involving the disappearance and murder of Tho Ly and Que Tran, which led to the arrest of Phuc Vo in connection with their deaths. Vo, who was charged with two counts of Murder with a special circumstance enhancement, remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility.
The San Pablo Police Department expresses gratitude to all assisting agencies for their collaborative efforts in today’s search operation.
