A fatal collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle on State Route 99 near the Crows Landing Road offramp in Modesto has resulted in the death of a bicyclist.

The incident occurred on April 16, 2024, at approximately 3:32 PM, according to reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Details from the scene indicated that a vehicle collided with a bicycle, resulting in significant injuries to the bicyclist.

Emergency responders, including American Medical Response (AMR) and local fire departments, swiftly arrived at the scene to provide aid. Tragically, despite efforts to render assistance, the bicyclist succumbed to their injuries, and CHP confirmed a fatality.

Following the collision, the involved vehicle came to a rest in the center divide, prompting lane closures and traffic diversions. The CHP coordinated with towing services to remove the vehicle from the scene.

The lanes affected by the collision were gradually reopened to traffic following the conclusion of investigative and cleanup efforts. The CHP confirmed that the lanes were fully reopened by early evening.

The identity of the deceased bicyclist has not been disclosed pending notification of family members.
