MORRISTOWN, NJ — Motorists in Morris County are facing a challenging day on the roads due to a series of construction projects and an emergency incident involving a jack-knifed tractor trailer. The incidents, impacting several major roadways, are causing significant traffic delays and require drivers to seek alternative routes.

As of early this afternoon, a jack-knifed tractor trailer has closed all lanes on NJ 23 northbound south of Canistear Rd in Jefferson Township. Authorities are on the scene, and it remains unclear when the lanes will reopen. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.

In addition to the accident on NJ 23, emergency construction has necessitated the closure of one right lane on US 46 westbound, west of NJ 53 in Denville Township. This construction, which began around 12:52 PM, is for urgent repairs with no specified end time as of now.

Furthermore, US 46 has become a focal point for multiple construction efforts. From I-80 to CR 637/Beverwyck Rd in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township and near CR 669/Canfield Av in Mine Hill Township, construction projects have led to the closure of one left lane and one right lane and shoulder, respectively, until 3:00 PM today.

NJ 23 is also undergoing construction affecting the right shoulder from North of Alexander Av in Pequannock Township to North of Maple Lake Rd in Kinnelon. This work is set to conclude by 3:00 PM today.

Other significant disruptions include a complete closure of a segment on I-80 westbound west of Exit 25 - US 206 in Mount Olive Township, and two lanes closed on NJ 15 near CR 699/Berkshire Valley Rd in Rockaway Township, both slated to end by 3:00 PM.

Additionally, NJ 124 is undergoing less disruptive work, from the vicinity of I-287 in Morristown to Montclair Av/Millburn Av/CR 630 in Maplewood Township, with all lanes remaining open but likely to experience slowdowns until the completion of today’s scheduled work.

Commuters are urged to plan for extra travel time or consider alternate routes. Updates on these traffic situations can be expected as authorities assess and manage the ongoing roadway challenges.
