A shootout occurred earlier this afternoon around 1 PM in the 600 block of Theodore Street. Fortunately, nobody was shot. Many businesses in the area were hit with gunfire including Merichka's.
The violence is so out of control now that people cannot even go out to lunch now without ducking in between taking bites of Merichka's world famous poor boys.
The shots were part of a full-blown gun battle that took place in the area between two groups of people shooting at each other in the parking lot. Over forty shell casings were found in the parking lot by investigators.
One suspect is currently in custody. The name of the suspect has not been released to the public as of yet.
