Police have detained the boyfriend of an Irish bartender who is accused of stabbing her in the neck during her shift on Saturday shortly after happy hour.
Following his arrest on April 1 at around 12:38 p.m., Marcin Pieciak, 36, of Queens, was charged with two charges of criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree murder in relation to the death of Sarah McNally, 41, an Irish native.
Two days prior, from the Céilí House in Queens, McNally and Pieciak were taken by ambulance to NYC Health + Hospitals Elmhurst. There, according to New York City police, McNally was pronounced dead and Pieciak, who had self-inflicted knife wounds to his neck and back, was critically ill.
Court Documents And The Customers' Respond
According to court documents, Pieciak was arraigned on Tuesday morning while still in the hospital.
In interviews with the New York Daily News, bargoers described the "horrible" incident. They said that at around 6:30 p.m., McNally was "just standing there talking" with customers when Pieciak stabbed him in the neck, causing him to fall to the ground bleeding.
The Man Was Confornted By The Responding Police
The boyfriend was confronted by responding police with knives in each hand, according to sources who spoke to the New York Post. When he refused to drop the weapons, the police fired stun guns on him.
The motive for the barroom killing, which the police reported to be a domestic altercation, is unknown. Pieciak has never before been arrested by the New York Police Department, a spokesperson informed Fox News Digital. However, the New York Daily News had reported that Pieciak had been detained for domestic abuse. At the time of publication, the Queens District Attorney's Office would not comment.
