Potential Jumper Saved By Deputies

On Friday Afternoon several people called 911 to report a female on the Los Caneros Overpass in Goleta that appeared to be in distress and potentially getting ready to jump onto Highway 101 below.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies immediately responded to the area and located the female who was reported as having one leg over the edge. Shortly later a Sheriff Sergeant reported he had the female back on the right side of the railing and she was safe.

Traffic in both directions on Highway 101 was stopped briefly.

Firefighters with Santa Barbara County Fire and Paramedics with American Medical Response - Santa Barbara County responded as well to treat any potential injuries.

A Crisis Intervention Team comprising of a Sheriff's Deputy and a Behavioral Health Technician also responded to the scene immedately and evaluated the female before she was transported to an area hospital.
