If today is National Puppy Day, the below story will make you start your day smiling and maybe - wishing to adopt a puppy.
If you still doubt that pets are human's best friends, then you should read the following till the end.
According to AnimalClub.net, a Facebook post from the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society speaks of two dogs who went missing from their home in Albany on October 1, 2023, after someone left the gate open.
While one of the dogs was soon recovered, the other, named Bella, remained missing. The family was devastated, as Bella held a special place as a gift from a deceased loved one.
“Bella was the last gift given by a dad to his young daughter before he passed away 13 years ago,” Mohawk Hudson Humane Society wrote.
Months went by, and it seemed like the sweet dog was gone for good. But on March 15, Bella’s owner Kim suddenly got the call she had been hoping for: Bella was found!
Someone from the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society had picked up the dog as a stray, and thanks to a microchip they were able to identify her as the owner. Kim immediately left work to pick her beloved dog up as quickly as possible.
Bella had been missing for 166 days. She was also found miles away from her home. (source: the animalclub.net) It seems like the girl's father insisted on looking after her, not abandoning her for good.
Aside from being a touching story, this is a reminder of the importance of getting your pets microchipped.
We are so glad that Bella is home safe and sound! Remember to get your pets microchipped, so you can always know where they are, and find them in case anything happens to them.
