You rarely read about shootings or other interactions on New York City's subway. That's because they rarely occur, and they do; it lands the entire city in a state of shock and disbelief. The encounter was recorded by a transit passenger who was in the car when a confrontation happened between two subway riders, and it was later posted on YouTube for everyone to see.
The video shows an irate rider, possibly during a mental health crisis, challenging and insulting another rider, both male in their late 20s or early 30s. A fight breaks out, which is when the second man's female friend comes to his rescue and repeatedly stabs the first man. Then, the first rider takes out a gun - this is when all the passengers run in panic in the opposite directions. As the train stops at the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Station, you hear the first gunshot. While the horrified transit riders spilt onto the platform and started running for their lives, you hear the second gunshot.
This happened around 5 pm on Thursday, March 14th, in downtown Brooklyn.
