Pastors condemn message of hate

A group of Tennessee pastors affiliated with the Southern Christian Coalition is speaking out against a march by a group identifying itself as a Neo-Nazi organization. The march took place in Nashville near the State Capitol.

In a statement, Rev. John Gill, pastor of The Savior United Church of Christ in Knoxville, said:

"As a pastor committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ, I find it troubling to witness Governor Bill Lee’s twisted response to the neo-Nazi march that took place in Nashville over the weekend. In his condemnation of the marchers’ ideology, Governor Lee immediately shifted to expressing support for the State of Israel. Governor Lee’s response ignored the vast scope of the hateful and discriminatory views of neo-nazis across America. They march in support of discrimination and harm to the LGBTQ+ community, to our immigrant neighbors, and to people of so many diverse backgrounds, races and faith while the reality is that all of us, no matter our identities deserve to live in safe communities across the state."
