If this storm wasn’t enough for you, we have another one to hit us quickly on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. This fast-moving system will be colder, have severe thunderstorm and tornado dynamics, and a bit of snow down into the 4,000 FT level pass zones. It is possible a Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Watch will be needed for the Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego areas for this event. It will be decided on tomorrow.

Today is when thunderstorms are possible as the colder air aloft moves in with the current storm system. This system will mostly depart tonight, leaving areas like San Diego in the storm risks and drying out elsewhere. But another one is quickly coming in.

As the Fujiwara effect develops, a system will quickly be pulled eastward on Wednesday evening for the SLO/SBA locations and then overnight through the rest of the forecast area. This is a fast-moving system capable of thunderstorms along the front, which is a first for this season. I call these systems punch systems, because they punch through quickly and are quite dynamics for thunderstorms.

Snow-levels will be 4,000 FT, so I do expect a dusting to an inch of snow on the Gorman and Cajon Pass locations. This also will bring several inches of snow to Wrightwood and Big Bear, on top of what you’ll receive today with the current storm.
