In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Pat Harrigan, a former U.S. Army officer, firearms business owner, and Republican candidate for North Carolina's 10th Congressional District, expressed his concerns about President Biden's handling of his duties as commander in chief, emphasizing the importance of having more veterans in higher office.

Harrigan, who served as a Green Beret and graduated from West Point, pointed to what he believes are Biden's failures, particularly in the aftermath of the fall of Afghanistan.

Harrigan said:

"I honestly could not believe how we could have a criminally incompetent chief executive lead the exit and lead the failure of Afghanistan the way that it happened."

Harrigan views Biden's actions as "absolutely catastrophic for America" and believes urgent change is needed in Washington to avoid further deterioration on the world stage.

Reflecting on his own military experience, Harrigan discussed his leadership role in Afghanistan, leading almost 400 Americans and Afghans in combat operations. He emphasized the need for principled leaders of character in Congress, especially veterans who understand the strategic interests that secure the American way of life.

Harrigan highlighted the decline in the percentage of veterans serving in Congress and advocated for a return to having veterans at the helm. He criticized the prevalence of "same old, same old lawyers, term career politicians" and stressed the importance of having leaders with diverse backgrounds, including those with military experience.

Apart from his military service, Harrigan shared his journey as a small business owner in the firearms industry. Starting from a small operation in his double-wide trailer home, his business now operates out of a 120,000-square-foot facility on about 80 acres, producing about 1,000 guns a week. Harrigan's business success has fueled his passion for American manufacturing, and he believes in the importance of creating conditions that allow individuals to pursue their own success stories.

If elected, Harrigan identified the crisis at the southern border as a top priority, echoing President Trump's approach of creating a massive wall to safeguard domestic security. He emphasized the need to protect the nation, especially considering the significant number of people crossing the border monthly, with potential security risks.

"That southern border needs to close immediately. And I've been saying this for years: President Trump's position on the border, which is to create a massive wall in order to safeguard our domestic security, should be our one and only priority. We have got to protect this nation," he said.

"I think it's very clear the American people need that border shutdown. We have 300,000 people a month coming across that border. We do not know who they are. We do not know what their intentions are. We know that we have dozens and dozens and dozens of folks on the terrorist watch list who have just walked across our leaky southern border, and that's got to stop," he added.

Harrigan is part of a crowded Republican primary field in North Carolina's 10th Congressional District. The primary winner is likely to replace Rep. Patrick McHenry, given the district's conservative-leaning nature. Harrigan's platform revolves around his military experience, commitment to American manufacturing, and a focus on addressing border security issues.
