First Responders were dispatched to the 700 block of San Ramon Drive just before 11:00 AM on Tuesday morning for a report of a structure fire. When they arrived on scene, they saw smoke and flames coming from the second story unit. Deputies with the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office began working on evacuating neighboring buildings while firefighters with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department began attacking the fire and searching for occupants in the building on fire.
Deputies evacuated neighboring buildings without issue while firefighters were forced to use a ladder to evacuate an occupant from the second story balcony.
As firefighters began knocking down areas on fire, they discovered both the first and second story as well as the attic had active fire in it. The Incident Commander requested a Second Alarm, which initiates additional response of fire apparatus.
Additional Santa Barbara County Fire equipment arrived on scene as well as an engine from Santa Barbara City Fire Department.
After nearly an hour of fighting fire, firefighters knocked down the active fire.
There were no reported injuries. A total of 12 people and 2 small dogs will be displaced by this fire. American Red Cross has been requested to assist those effected.
