The Stanford Department of Public Safety has issued a warning to the community following a string of residential burglaries targeting multiple student residential buildings in the Escondido Village area. Incidents occurred on December 27, 2023, and January 7, 2024, between the hours of midnight and 7:15 am, prompting heightened security measures and urging residents to remain vigilant.

According to reports, the suspect forcibly entered several occupied student residential buildings within the Escondido Village area, including Studio 3 at 37 Angell Ct, Studio 4 at 51 Dudley Ln, Studio 5 at 44 Olmsted Rd, Studio 6 at 47 Olmsted Rd, and EVGR – B at 735 Campus Dr. The perpetrator gained access by utilizing a pry tool to open exterior doors, subsequently pilfering packages from the building lobbies.

The suspect, captured by video safety and security cameras, is described as a male individual. However, specific racial or ethnic descriptors remain unknown at this time. He was observed wearing a black baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black shoes during the incidents.

The Stanford Department of Public Safety has mobilized resources to investigate the series of burglaries and is working in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies to apprehend the perpetrator. Additionally, campus security has been bolstered to enhance surveillance and deter further criminal activity in the affected areas.
