A man who worked at a local gas station in Humble, Texas was shot and killed after chasing down two men that stole a bag of potato chips. Police need your help to find the suspects.
A tragic incident unfolded in Humble, Texas, resulting in the death of a convenience store worker who confronted two individuals over a bag of chips. The suspects, now wanted for capital murder, were captured on surveillance cameras entering a Sunoco off Will Clayton Parkway around 11:30 a.m. last Friday, both wearing black hoodies.
The surveillance footage from the Humble Police reveals the suspects focusing on the chip aisle while the victim, a recently hired employee, was seen mopping the floor. One of the suspects is observed surreptitiously placing a bag of chips in his pants. After spending some time in the store, the suspects departed just two minutes after entering.
Assistant Chief Dan Zientek of the Humble Police Department expressed the unexpected tragedy, stating, "No one ever anticipates just going to work that day and not coming home." The 42-year-old employee confronted the suspects in a verbal altercation, captured on video outside the store. This marked the last recorded interaction before the employee followed the suspects in his car.
As the confrontation escalated, the suspects began shooting at the victim. In an attempt to evade the gunfire, the employee reversed his car and ultimately ended up on a median. Detectives examined the victim's car, noting bullet holes in the windshield and back passenger window.
Zientek lamented the loss of a diligent citizen simply trying to do their job, emphasizing the impact on both the victim's family and the suspects, whose lives are now irrevocably altered as they face impending incarceration. The police continue their search for the two suspects involved in this tragic incident. Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to contact the Humble Police Department or HCSO.
