Houston Police Department unveiled a composite sketch of an unidentified suspect sought in connection with the shooting of a 23-year-old Houston woman in December.

According to HPD, the incident occurred on December 18, 2023 at 6318 Thrush Drive around 11:20 p.m. The suspect is characterized as a black male, aged approximately 25 to 30 years, exhibiting a slender build, and sporting small dreads or braids. The released composite sketch and surveillance video spotlight the suspect's vehicle, believed to be an early 2000s Honda Civic.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective Z. Brumley detailed the sequence of events, stating that HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call outside a residence at the specified address. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim with a gunshot wound, and Houston Fire Department paramedics facilitated her swift transport to the hospital.

The collaborative effort of the community is crucial in assisting law enforcement to resolve this case successfully and ensure justice is served.

Community involvement goes beyond simply providing information. It fosters a sense of shared responsibility and trust between law enforcement and the community, which is essential for creating safer neighborhoods. When individuals feel engaged and empowered to contribute, they are more likely to report suspicious activities, cooperate with investigations, and act as reliable witnesses in court proceedings. This level of cooperation not only increases the chances of solving cases but also acts as a deterrent to potential criminals, making it clear that the community stands united against crime.

The collaboration between law enforcement and the community is vital in resolving cases and ensuring justice. By working together, we can strengthen our communities and send a powerful message that crime will not be tolerated.
