Patti and I dined at the Mad Duck in Clovis three times in the past two weeks.

Thanks to a Christmas gift from a friend who gave us two cards to Mad Duck to dine and one night on us.

All three nights were exceptional. Talk about consistency; these guys make consistency a significant deal. They should have a picture of Mad Duck in the dictionary under consistency.

Let's start with the best food, according to me.

Tater Tots

I am not sure what they do for their tot, but they are always crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I think they double-fry them, but I can't be sure. I'm asking next time we're there.

They're salted perfectly, and they are just great.

Look, I cook a great deal at home, as you can tell if you watch my videos on NewsBreak, and I cannot get my tater tots to come out like theirs. I'm going to try double frying next time to air frying. I'll let you know.

The Food

Patti had the Fish and Chips two nights, soup, and a sandwich another night. I had chicken wings, soup for two nights, and fish and chips the other night.

Patti's food was perfect. Her fish and chips were crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The fish tasted as fresh as ever. Then again, their fish always tastes fresh.

Her sandwich and soup were great that night. The soup was chicken pot pit soup without the crust. It was full of chicken and veggies and creamy.

I had chicken wings and a bowl of chicken pot pie soup that night. The wings were juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I didn't get the hot ones. Instead, I opted for the mild-heat ones, and they were perfect.

As for their soup, it was tasty and creamy. As I stated before, the soup was full of chicken and veggies—the perfect meal for a cold evening.

The last night of dining there, I decided to go with the fish and chips, and Patti went with the Walnut Salad and half a sandwich. Both meals were perfect, as always, and we had no complaints—consistency at its best.

Next time you're looking for great food in a great atmosphere, head to Mad Duck. Not only do they have great food, but they have great beer brewed by them as well TV's to watch all the sports you could think of.

Buon Appetito
