We went to one of our favorite places to get teriyaki bowls the other night with two of our grandkids; as usual, we weren't disappointed.
Kenji's Teriyaki Grill, located on the corner of Blackstone and Bullard Avenues in Fresno, has rarely disappointed us with consistency, and it hit the mark high the other night.
As I said, we took two of our grandkids to dinner the other night, and they agreed it was the best teriyaki bowl they had ever had. I'm glad since it would have been heck to listen to them complain afterward.
The Food
Three of us ordered the beef teriyaki, and our youngest granddaughter preferred the chicken teriyaki bowl.
The bowls come with either white or brown rice and steamed veggies. You can always substitute rice for veggies if that's your thing, which I do sometimes, but I went with the veggies that night.
The veggies were fresh and tasted great. I added a little spicy teriyaki sauce to them, and they blended in perfectly with my white rice and veggies.
Patti went with the brown rice and bragged about how great it tasted. I've never been a brown rice fan since I think it is always dry, but she said I needed to taste her, and true to her word, the brown rice was good and not dry at all. I may try that next time.
The kids all went with white rice and steamed veggies. They can't get enough of steamed veggies, which, for kids and grandparents, taking care of them is good.
The star of the bowls was the meat. Our youngest said the chicken was cooked perfectly, juicy, and flavorful for her taste buds. The plus was also the amount of chicken they put into the bowl.
For the price of $10-12, the bowls are a bargain. There is usually enough in the bowl to save for the next day, even for me, who has a big appetite for the bowls.
Our bowls were with the sliced beef. I can never get over how much meat is in the bowls. Maybe I shouldn't say that since they may cut back, but hopefully, they won't.
They pile on the beef to the point of overfilling, but it's welcomed since it helps to leave enough for leftovers, and boy, those leftovers are tasty the next day.
It is a meal fit for a king or queen between the beef being cooked teriyaki style and adding the spicy teriyaki.
These overfilled bowls are also around $10-12 each. A bargain if you ask me.
