Dollar General, a nationwide retailer, found itself in hot waters after a manager at one of its Georgia stores fired an employee upon discovering her pregnancy.

This incident led to a lawsuit, shedding light on pregnancy discrimination within the workplace.

Dollar General was entangled in a lawsuit following allegations of pregnancy discrimination. The lawsuit claimed that a store manager fired a staff member "immediately" after learning about her pregnancy, citing "health reasons" for the termination.

This incident took place around September 15, 2020, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Following the lawsuit, Dollar General agreed to a settlement amount of $42,500. The settlement was a response to the federal lawsuit which argued that the dismissal was "discriminatory and motivated by her pregnancy"

The action taken against Dollar General serves as a reminder to all employers about the legal obligations and the moral duty they hold toward maintaining a fair workplace.
