Trump's Risky Gambit: How He's Betting on Israel's Conflict in 2024 Race

Former President Donald Trump's campaign intended to weaponize for political gain the escalating conflict that may still be happening around the 2024 presidential election by using the war in Israel to explore fresh lines of attack against President Joe Biden.

"Joe Biden came along and tossed Israel to the bloodthirsty jihads," Trump said.

The former president's lengthy comments on Israel during an event hosted by the ardently pro-Trump Club 47 revealed how Trump intended to use the conflict against Biden on important foreign policy issues.

These represented his most insightful comments on the conflict since Hamas fighters started attacking Israeli citizens.

The main thrust of Trump's one hour and forty-minute speech was that Biden was to blame for the rise in conflicts during his administration, although the actual data supported little of his claims.

"Under my leadership, the world was peaceful and calm because America was respected … with crooked Joe Biden, you have chaos, bloodshed, war, terror and death," Trump said.

Trump misrepresented the facts numerous times, claiming that Iran transferred the $6 billion in humanitarian aid to Iran to finance the strikes against Israel after the US unfroze it in exchange for five American captives.

Trump's claim is problematic since, according to US authorities, the money has yet to be released and is still held in a bank account in Qatar under the supervision of the US Treasury, which must approve any withdrawals.

The Make America Great Again crowd, however, did not seem to take much notice of Trump's inaccurate statements about Israel.

This is a telling sign because top Republicans in Congress and on the campaign trail continue to gauge their moods as they prepare for the 2024 election.
