Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will submit his application for the 2024 New Hampshire presidential primary on Thursday afternoon, making him the first "major" candidate to do so.
According to his campaign, DeSantis is anticipated to register first, but North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, who narrowly met the polling and donor standards to participate in both presidential primary debates, is expected to file on Thursday morning ahead of DeSantis.
DeSantis intends to register in person at the Concord State Capitol.
Later this week, he will arrive in the state for a campaign swing—his first since mid-August.
DeSantis has visited 74 of Iowa's 99 counties, where he has spent most of his primary campaign.
"DeSantis' message to reverse America's decline and revive the American Dream continues to resonate with voters across New Hampshire," said DeSantis's spokesperson.
The Florida Governor will file on the first day the window for doing so in New Hampshire opens.
This week, many of his rivals also want to place their names on the ballot there.
Following the Iowa caucuses, which took place on January 15, the first Republican presidential primary was conducted in New Hampshire the following year.
The primary in New Hampshire has yet to be scheduled. However, it is anticipated to occur before the second and third GOP primary contests, the two U.S. caucuses on February 8 in Nevada and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Nikki Haley, a former U.S. ambassador to the UN, and Mike Pence, a former vice president, are anticipated to register on Friday in the Granite State.
On August 19, DeSantis had his final political event in New Hampshire. Since then, he has actively campaigned in Iowa or raised money in California and Texas.
