When you hear these two words, Foster's Freeze, what's the first thing you think of?

If it's ice cream, you're in the top 95% of what people think of, but there are other foods Fosters Freeze is known for, and I want to write to you about that today.

Don't worry, I'm not leaving out the most important food on their menu, ice cream, but I believe some other foods need to be mentioned.

Burgers

I admit I have a soft spot in my stomach for their burgers. It's not that they are the best I've had, because they aren't, but they bring back fond memories of the ice cream shops I ate at years ago to have a greasy burger and fries. In those days, burgers were the best; not healthy, but so great tasting and fun to eat.

I can remember biting into a burger and the grease dripping down my chin and wiping it up so it didn't drop on my shirt. Those were the days.

Fries

Not to be left out, the fries were just as greasy as the burgers. They were hot, greasy, and full of flavor. Never soft or squishy, just fried perfectly with the right crunch on the outside with a fluffy center.

Recently, I had some fries at Fosters Freeze, and they didn't disappoint. They were mildly greasy with the right amount of crunch and fluffiness I remember as a kid. They hit the spot.

Ice Cream

We can't forget the main food item on the menu of Fosters Freeze. Ice cream is what they are also known for, besides great burgers and fries, in my opinion.

Their soft-serve ice cream, especially the vanilla, is to die for. When you get a cone, cup, or sundae with vanilla ice cream, the vanilla isn't bright white like other places. It's a cream-colored vanilla, showing the heavy use of vanilla extract—more extract than just flavoring.

When I first had their ice cream when I moved here in 2006, I asked about the mix, and the manager at the local Fosters Freeze Clovis on Shaw and Armstrong said they used a heavy vanilla mix to make it taste great and get that cream-colored ice cream. Good to know!

Of course, they have smoothies, sundaes, and anything else you could consider in the world of ice cream.

The Rest of the Menu

They have more than burgers and fries, of course. I picked the two items I look forward to when we go. There is a good selection of other foods to try on any given day, but I will admit, I look forward to Wednesday when you can get a small cone of vanilla ice cream for a $1.00.

Buon Appetito!
