Donald Trump declared his intention to testify "at the appropriate time" on the second day of his civil fraud trial in New York.

The former president appeared in court on Tuesday in Lower Manhattan, where it was decided what punishments he would get for his dishonest business practices.

Despite the fact that the New York Attorney General Letitia James' office presented its case against Trump on Monday, Trump declared in a post on Truth Social that he had a "good day" and disparaged both James and New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron.

Trump asserted that the case had been reduced by 80% due to an appellate court's ruling on the statute of limitations. This was shown to be false when the judge provided a technical explanation.

The former president's situation worsened when he received a gag order for criticizing the court clerk on social media.

The gag order prohibits posting or publicly speaking about any member of the judge's staff.

Judge Engoron threatened significant fines against Trump for any future offenses after the offending post was erased.

Trump has insulted the court and James on social media and in front of cameras throughout the first two days of this trial.

James is suing Trump for allegedly misrepresenting the value of his assets to secure deals.

Trump accused the two of being crooked and politically motivated while speaking to reporters outside the courtroom. He also referred to James as a "racist."

The former president also told the media that he will testify in the proceedings in New York.

Trump is a witness for both the defense and the attorney general, though it might be a few weeks before he is called to testify.

What are your thoughts on Trump's decision to testify in his civil fraud trial? How might this impact the proceedings?
