You might have been with someone for a while and though the two of you might love and care about each other, you might have one issue. You might have the issue that you are a democrat and your partner is a republican. So, what do you do if you and your partner have conflicting political opinions? How do you approach this type of issue? Though the answers to these questions may be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.

1. Discuss the issue with your partner.

Talk to your partner about this issue and let him or her know how you feel about it. Do your best to listen to how he or she feels about the issue and try to compromise on a solution.

2. Find common ground.

If the two of you are together, then there must have been something that drew you to each other, so do your best to find out what that was. See what issues you agree on and try to build on them.

3. Leave politics out of your relationship.

Instead of letting opposing political beliefs ruin what the two of you have built, do your best to leave politics outside when the two of you are together. This might help the two of you get along better and strengthen your relationship.

If you have been with someone for a while but you have an issue because he or she is a republican and you are a democrat, try talking about this issue. Find common ground if you can, or leave politics out of your relationship completely.
