Former President Donald Trump is returning to a practice of mocking other candidates, a strategy he adopted in 2016 when he felt secure in his lead in the Republican primary, despite the fact that he is now subject to greater legal risk.

His most recent victim was the former governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, whom he mockingly dubbed "Birdbrain."

After finishing her campaigning in Iowa, Haley tweeted a picture of a birdcage and some birdseed along with the message "From: Trump Campaign."

According to Haley, Trump's increased attacks on her indicate she is gaining support.

Additionally, polls indicate that she is making gains in the primary partly because of her performances in the two debates.

She has yet to cut into Trump's polling advantage significantly.

On the other hand, Trump must acknowledge that court dates are already a part of his campaign agenda and will continue to be so through 2024.

A New York judge handed Trump a severe blow by finding him guilty of fraud and ordering the cancellation of business certificates for some Trump businesses.

The former president has nevertheless continued to criticize his competitors.

During a campaign stop in Iowa, the former president referred to DeSantis as "DeSanctus" when attacking the Florida governor's stance on ethanol.

Trump's jabs are reminiscent of the 2016 presidential campaign when he was so confident in his advantage that he started encouraging rivals.

One example is when he gave Sen. Marco Rubio's team a special delivery of "Trump Ice Natural Spring Water."

At the time, Trump often mocked Rubio as "Little Marco," making the Florida senator's youth a subject of ridicule.

Do you think Trump's return to political mockery a smart move or a risky gamble amidst his legal battles and the 2024 race?
