Red Apple Cafe is one of those places that can be either exceptional or semi-bad. I've had both experiences there, but yesterday it was fantastic.

The food was exceptional, the coffee (a new brand) was excellent, and the service was above and beyond superb.

Coffee

This might seem minor, but to Patti and I, a good morning coffee is essential, and most restaurants in the area use Farmer Brothers.

I don't know why most restaurants choose this brand since it isn't the best, but I think it's the most inexpensive when serving large amounts of coffee.

The thing is, people like a good cup of coffee in the morning, and getting to choose between a dark roast and a milder blend was a pleasant surprise at Red Apple Cafe.

So, of course, we ordered the dark roast, which was excellent as we expected.

Breakfast

Patti and I both ordered the steak and eggs. Breakfast consisted of a New York strip steak, two eggs (cooked the way you want), potatoes and toast or pancakes, or something else off the menu. You had choices of waffles, biscuits & gravy, and fruit. We went with the potatoes, and I'm glad we did.

Patti opted for scrambled eggs, and I Went with over-medium. As for the steak, we both went with medium-rare, and to our surprise, it was cooked perfectly, unlike the usual over-cooked steak in the morning from other spots.

My eggs were perfect, nice runny yolks for dining my sourdough toast. Patti said her scrambled eggs were done the way she likes them, not over or undercooked and fluffy.

The potatoes were the hit of the breakfast, if I say so myself. They were "new" potatoes cut into nice-sized pieces, not too big or too small, grilled to crispness on the outside but soft and flavorful inside.

Lots of great burnt pieces from the grill accompanied the potatoes, which made for a nice touch to go along with the steak and eggs.

Conclusion

I guess you can tell from the above review I highly recommend Red Apple Cafe for breakfast. We're going to try their lunch next time.

Also, when you go, ask for Cheyenne (I hope I spelled this correctly) for a server. She was fantastic.

Buon Appetito!
