El Pollo Loco is not what I usually think of when I want chicken. It's typically a host of others like Vons, Save Mart, Popeye's, and KFC.
When our son and his girlfriend called me the other day and asked if I wanted something to eat, I said "Yes" and then, "Where are you going?"
They told me El Pollo Loco, and I asked what I could get. They gave me a good rundown on the menu items and side dishes, and I gave them my order.
What Showed Up
So I got a nice size chicken breast, a wing, mac and cheese, and corn as sides. It all looked great and was enough for lunch.
The chicken breast was grilled and looked great. Once I bit into it, I found out how great it was. It was tender, juicy, and tasted fantastic.
I couldn't believe how juicy the breast was since breasts are hard to cook especially grilled. This one was perfect, and I was excited to try the wing hoping it was just as juicy.
I bit into the breast, and to my surprise, it was just as juicy and tender as the breast, so I figured the sides had to be good, right!
The Sides
The corn tasted great but wasn't hot enough for me. Other than temp the corn as good, they gave a good amount on the side.
The mac and cheese was very hot. Actually, it was extremely hot, too hot to eat. I let it cook down, and it was most likely the best mac and cheese side I've had from a food vendor besides making it homemade.
The Location
El Pollo Loco has many locations, but our son and his girlfriend seem to like the site on Willow and Herndon in the Target shopping center. I don't know how the others are, but they say they've tried other locations and still like this one best. I've heard good things about other sites, so it's up to the eater which one is best for them.
Conclusion
Get out there and give them a try. Maybe not all of them, but the locations you like, and let us know how they are so we can check them out and write a review on each site. Patti and I are trying to check out restaurants with multiple locations in Fresno, Clovis, and the valley to write reviews about, so we're asking for your help.
