We've been to many places in Fresno and Clovis, enjoying salads. Patti and I enjoy great salads, from the sometimes and lately fresh salads at Olive Garden to the Caesar salad at Fridays to the excellent-tasting champagne vinaigrette
salad dressing toping a fulfilling salad at Tahoe Joe's.
But lately, the salad at Dog House Grill beats them all; I'm happy to say. I say that because we often go to Dog House because they are open late during the week. Not at late, let's say as Fridays since they are open until midnight, but late enough that we make it there.
The Salad
They have different salads, but I'll write about the steak cobb salad for this review.
The salad has fresh lettuce (green leaf), red onion, steak, bacon bits, peppers, tomatoes, and blue cheese. There are enough dressings, but I went with the simple vinaigrette.
The amount of steak, peppers, tomatoes, and blue cheese is fantastic. I didn't go with the red onions, but Patti did one time, and I will say they gave her enough onions for the two of us.
I ordered the large bowl, and I couldn't believe my eyes. I don't know how they do it for less than $15.00 for this incredible steak salad.
Just the amount of steak alone was worth the price, never mind everything else.
The lettuce (green leaf) is not always my favorite, but in this case, it was fresh and crisp to the bite.
The steak was tender, and the tomatoes and peppers were fresh and juicy, not at all dried out like some spots we've been in lately.
I can't say enough about the salad at Dog House. It's something if you like a great salad you need to enjoy next time you visit Dog House.
Patti's Meal
Patti went with the steak taco without the cheese as usual; she bragged about the amount of steak in the taco, how tender the steak was, and how fresh the lettuce and tomatoes were—no complaints about the steak taco from her.
They are so large and full of fixings that she left half for today, Sunday, and graciously let me have the other half for lunch.
As I have pointed out in previous reviews, the steak tacos are large enough to leave you with leftovers.
In The End
Granted, I've written about Dog House before, and many readers have agreed and disagreed with me about their food, but I will say this with positive vibes: you need to try the salad, if nothing else.
