A Colorado couple is sitting in their in-ground hot tub around 8 p.m. on Saturday night (18 March 2023) when the man felt "something grab his head." The couple is frightened as the wife screams and they splash water at the mountain lion. Thanks to the wife's quick thinking, she grabs a flashlight and shines the light at the mountain lion, and they make plenty of noise to scare it away.

One man is lucky to be alive after his head was about to be on the dinner menu for a Colorado mountain lion.

Man's Head Felt 'Something Grab his Head' in Colorado Hot Tub

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) reported that a couple was sitting in a hot tub around 8 p.m. at a home near Nathrop, Colorado. It was dark outside and the home is located in a heavily wooded area. The man suddenly felt "something grab his head."

That something was a mountain lion, and he was likely to be on the dinner menu, had they not spooked the large cat.

FOX 31 News reported the man and woman "splashed water at the mountain lion, and she began to scream" loudly. She also grabbed a flashlight and shined it at the mountain lion.

It retreated about 20 feet away. The couple continued to yell at it until it moved farther away.

The couple managed to get back into the house, where the wife was able to attend to the scratches on his head. The man was very fortunate the scratches were minor and not life-threatening.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) sent officers to the scene but were unable to find any tracks in the snow with freezing temperatures.

CPW noted that this is "the first mountain lion attack on a human in Colorado since February 2022." The 2022 attack took place in Montezuma County, Colorado.
