Next week, President Joe Biden is making a trip to Mexico and somewhere on the trip, he plans to make a stop along the southern border. Since the president came into office, the increase in migrants has overwhelmed border cities. This caused some sanctuary cities to get overwhelmed as Texas Governor Greg Abbott and former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey bussed migrants to these cities.
The Texas governor started bussing migrants as he wanted President Biden to support his state over the increase in migrants. Customs and Border Patrol said over 2 million migrants crossed the southern border in 2022.
Previously Governor Abbott said:
“This is Biden’s fault because President Biden is not continuing what President Trump began. President Biden needs to start right there and finish building the border wall.”
Governor Abbott recently tweeted he bussed over 16,500 migrants to Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, and Philadelphia.
Next week, Biden is scheduled to meet with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during the North American Leaders’ Summit in Mexico City on Jan. 9 and 10. Somewhere along this trip, the president will make a stop along the border. No specific details are known on where he will go.
President Biden when asked about visiting the border said:
“That’s my intention. We’re working out the details now.”
This will be Biden’s first trip to the border. His predecessor, Donald Trump, made several trips to the border.
On a visit with Governor Abbott, President Trump said:
“We have an open, really dangerous border. We better go back fast.”
President Trump also visited the Texas border on other occasions as well as the Arizona and California border.
After the U.S. Supreme Court delayed ending Title 42 in December, this gives the Biden administration to come up with a plan to secure the border as cities are getting overwhelmed.
If you were President Biden, what would you do to secure the border?
