A new state-wide program could help Montgomery County residents struggling to repair their homes. The Whole-Home Repairs Program is investing a total of $125 million to make homes safer throughout the state, writes Michaelle Bond for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The program aims to help people with “low and moderate” incomes to upkeep, repair or weatherize their dwellings. Starting Dec. 12, counties can apply for the funding.

“We know preservation is a critical component of keeping homes affordable in Montgomery County,” said Kayleigh Silver, Montgomery County’s Office of Housing and Community Development administrator.

On top of making residences safer and more energy efficient, it also aims to make them accessible for individuals with disabilities. In addition, the program aims to create construction-related jobs through workforce development programs.

Applications for homeowners will open this spring.
