With the growing number of migrants entering New York, the mayor is in talks with the Biden administration. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sent migrants that cross Mexico to the Texas border to locations out of state including New York City and Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser was denied her request for National Guard support. Now, Mayor Eric Adams is working with the White House for assistance.

Even though President Joe Biden hasn’t done anything to support Texas, there is a possibility he may support New York with its crisis.

In a new conference on Monday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said:

“Right now we are at a state where we must get the assistance from the federal government. On Friday, the teams were speaking on a lower level, and now we’re going to have a higher level conversation with the White House."

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said:

“We have been in close regular touch with Mayor Adams and his team and are committed to working with them as we do effectively with other local leaders."

Mayor Adams said:

“Our goal is that every asylum seeker that comes to New York, we are going to give them shelter and the support that they need.”

Though Mayor Adams came into office this year, he is seeing how political bureaucracy works even as some issues from other states affect his city.

Then in Washington, D.C., Mayor Bowser’s request for the National Guard was outside of their scope of responsibility.

A 24 volunteer, Ashley Tjhung said:

"What people actually need is housing, transportation to their next cities, legal services and direct social services, which the military isn't really trained to do.”

Volunteers in the city say the migrants only spend a few hours or days before they move on to another location.

According to Reuters, Governor Abbott and Arizona Mayor Doug Ducey have sent about 7,000 migrants out of their states to other locations in recent months.

Up to this point, the Biden administration has not provided or announced how to handle the migrant crisis.

Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-TX) said:

“They’re so out of touch. And, you know, I want to say, hey, welcome to the Biden Border Crisis Party. You know, we’ve been expecting you. This is how the party goes. It starts off terrible. It gets worse. And just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does. So I wouldn’t stay too long.”

Mayor Adams also turned down Governor Abbott's request to visit Texas and see the problems.

The migrant issue started in Texas and Arizona, moved on to New York, and now the Biden administration has to make a decision on how to handle this. The migrant crisis isn't going away.

How would you handle this situation?
