Kevin Chalmers is facing charges after allegedly leading police into a high-speed chase throughout the Poconos in Tannersville after a heated dispute at Camelback Lodge.
Tannersville, PA | Kevin Chalmers faces a staggering amount of charges in Monroe County after allegedly leading the local police on a high-speed chase throughout the Poconos, according to Pocono Township police. The officers claim that the 38-year-old Kevin Chalmers was involved in an argument at Camelback Lodge in Tannersville on a Saturday morning.
The moment the police tried to speak with him at his hotel room at Camelback Lodge based on a domestic violence report, he fled the scene, nearly-hitting an officer who gave him commands to stay put, which led to a high-speed chase on Interstate 80. While attempting to drive off, he took off at a high rate of speed, headed toward 80 East, exceeding 100mph. Eventually, the police caught up to Chalmers with the help of Pennsylvania State Troopers, and when they did discover that three children were in the vehicle found on Interstate 80 East with him during the ordeal. The children, ages 8, 5, and 1, were in the 2022 Hyundai Palisades with New York registration. Their father Chalmers allegedly endangered these children as they were with him in the car during the chase. He was taken into custody without question after discovering Chalmers on the Interstate. Later, police discover Chalmers allegedly attacked Chalmer's girlfriend's sister.
According to Monroe County Crime Watch, the charges Chalmers faces are as follows:
- Felony charges of aggravated assault
- Endangering the welfare of a child (3 counts)
- Fleeing or attempting to elude an officer
- Misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person (5 counts) and simple assault
- Chalmers also faces several summary charges
Chalmers is currently in Monroe County Correctional Facility. With Magistrate Gasper arraigning him. Chalmers is on a bail of $50,000 secured, according to Pocono Township Police.
