The lightning fire is located approximately seven (7) miles northwest of Lower Loon in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness on the Middle Fork Ranger District. The fire is estimated at 104 acres and is burning in subalpine fir, Douglas fir, sagebrush, and grass. Fire behavior yesterday was active with isolated single tree torching observed. A Type III Incident Commander assumed command of the fire. A Type I Wildland Fire Module is assigned. Norton Lookout has been wrapped with structure wrap. Firefighters will continue to assess values in the vicinity of the fire, including values along the Middle Fork of the Salmon River to the east of the fire.
