Defies genres as a sonic melting pot of Texas blues, New Orleans R&B funk, horn-driven Memphis soul, country twang, border music, big band swing, and roots rock.
The Austin-based nine-piece (sometimes 10-piece) supergroup is led by Kevin Russell, the charismatic frontman with colorful suits and extravagant shoes who continuously swaps out an electric guitar for a ukulele and never falls short of creating a cinematic experience with on-stage antics that often include him donning a light-up cloak or leading a conga line through the crowd.
Cory Morrow didn’t become a Texas legend by being quiet. He sings about strippers and Jesus with equal fervor. While this dichotomy may perplex those on either side of the moral equator, the answer is actually straightforward. Cory Morrow is beautifully and uncomfortably transparent.
From the beer-soaked, cocaine-laden days of his early career, to today’s more sober and spiritual leg of the journey, one thing about Morrow has never changed – as goes Cory’s life, goes Cory’s songs – and that’s never been more evident than on his newest studio release “Whiskey & Pride”.
Giovannie & The Hired Guns Kody West
In the last few years alone, Giovannie & The Hired Guns have grown from a massively beloved local live act to an undeniable new force on the national rock scene. Formed back when frontman Giovannie Yanez was working the counter at a pawnshop, the Stephenville, Texas-based band has amassed millions of streams almost entirely through word-of-mouth, thanks in no small part to their unforgettable live show—an electrifying spectacle that invariably leaves audiences sweat-drenched and ecstatic. With their high-octane collision of rock-and-roll and country, Giovannie & The Hired Guns are now at work on a hotly anticipated new album showcasing their hard-hitting sound, emotionally raw storytelling, and the authentically gritty energy that’s sorely missing from rock music today.
Just one year after his first EP “Higher Ground” Kody and the band released their debut album “Green” in April of 2017 and found themselves quickly gaining a large following of loyal fans.
In the past 3 years, he and his band have traveled across the country headlining shows, as well as serving as the supporting act for artists like Charlie Robison, Whiskey Myers, and Koe Wetzel.
They have now released their sophomore record “Overgrown” which was recorded in Kody’s hometown of Denton, Texas. Kody’s drive for Touring and live shows keep wheels always turning and the band always working.
