Attorney General Mark Brnovich says the constitution allows border states to declare an invasion and believes this may be a good direction for the crisis at the border. Declaring an invasion allows border agents and local authorities more avenues to stop the free flow of immigrants. He wrote Governor Ducey asking him to help.

"Our office concluded that violence by cartels and gangs who have now assumed control of our sourhern border meets the legal threshhold for an invasion."

-Attorney General Mark Brnovich, Arizona

In 2014 groups of 10 to 15 people would cross but today is a much different story. Two hundred fifty thousand immigrants were able to cross the Mexican border in July. Three million illegal immigrants have escaped into the United States in the last 14 months. Attorney General, Brnovich says that amounts to the entire population of the state of Kansas.

We expect seven times the number of people crossing the Mexican border as we did this time in 2020; these numbers are putting a strain on our social services.

-Attorney General Mark Brnovich, Arizona

Mark Brnovich also stated in an interview with Fox News that the Mexican cartels are running the entire situation.

"We have never seen the price of fentanyl drop so dramatically. The cartels have seized operational control, and in the last 14 months, the price of fentanyl has gone from $20.00 a pill to $5.00 a pill."

-Attorney General Mark Brnovich, Arizona

Fentanyl numbers

So far, here are the numbers on fentanyl seizures:

2022 Year To Date: 7,745 lbs

2021: 11,203 lbs

2020: 4,791 lbs

2019: 2,804 lbs

"Last month, there was enough fentanyl seized to kill the entire population of Arizona."

-Attorney General Mark Brnovich, Arizona

This number includes only the fentanyl seized crossing the border. An undetermined amount of fentanyl within the United States has come over undetected.

Missouri

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department posts warnings for parents on their website using numbers from 2020. Once the new numbers come out, they are expected to increase substantially.

KCPD's Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) warns parents about an ongoing, sharp rise in accidental overdoses and deaths among young people from consuming counterfeit medications laced with fentanyl. The counterfeits resemble oxycodone 30mg pills, often stamped M30. Instead, they are laced with fentanyl which is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. Regional data shows that from 2019 to 2020, there was a 149% increase in fentanyl overdose deaths in the Kansas City metro area. Counterfeit pills with fentanyl also mimic Xanax, Adderall, and other prescription medications. Fentanyl can also be added to substances like marijuana, which can cause adverse reactions.
