Jean Broillet IV, the founder of Tired Hands Brewing in Ardmore, has resumed a role in the brewery’s day-to-day operations a year after he publicly stepped away due to employees’ allegations of sexism and discrimination, writes Jenn Ladd for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

He has been working at Tired Hands again for the past several months, according to spokesperson Greg Matusky.

“He owns the company, he’s the visionary behind it,” said Matusky. “He’s back.”

Broillet stepped away from the helm last May following an outpouring of anecdotes from the brewery’s former employees on the Instagram account of Massachusetts brewer Brienne Allan. Several former employees described Broillet as fostering a “dude-bro culture” at Tired Hands.

At the time, the transition management team said that the founder was “not going to be present or involved in any aspect of the business” in the future and indicated that management has discussed the possibility of Broillet divesting in the company.

However, Matusky said that Broillet never agreed to start talks about divesting himself of Tired Hands and he never agreed to leave the business permanently.
