Cutting the ribbon for the dedication of FlourishArts Council of Lake Oswego

If you drive into Lake Oswego from Portland on Hwy 43, you'll notice a new work of art at the Terwilliger Boulevard intersection. This sculpture marks the boundary of L.O. as people cross into and out of Lake Oswego.

Artist Ed Carpenter was commissioned for "Flourish," with his signature orange and silver color and sharp lines. Carpenter, a resident of Portland, OR, is internationally known for his large-scale public installations ranging from architectural sculpture to infrastructure design.

Flourish was installed last fall, created to invoke a sense of community and identity that is Lake Oswego.

An official city dedication is on Monday, June 13th, from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Adult Community Center, located at 505 G Avenue, Lake Oswego, OR 97034.

This is a free event and open to the public.

During this dedication, the Art Council will show a video about Carpenter's design process and installation of Flourish. Carpenter will also be there for a meet and greet and to interact with those who want to pick his brain.

Most importantly, light bites and drinks will be served!

The Arts Council of Lake Oswego is the "Home of the Nationally Recognized Gallery Without Walls Public Art Program." ACLO partners with the City of Lake Oswego and is located in the new City Hall at 380 A Avenue, Suite A, Lake Oswego, OR 97034. Along with the "Gallery Without Walls" program, ACLO also sponsors the Artspace Gallery and the Permanent Art Projects.
