Home for Good Dog Rescue is based in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, and this non-profit rescue is entirely run by volunteers and foster pet parents.

Home for Good Dog Rescue believes that the best place for a dog is in someone's home, not a shelter.

So, Home for Good Dog Rescue works to save dogs from high-kill shelters located in the South, and then they take them to their facility in Aiken, South Carolina where they provide them with any medical care that they need.

From there, they help their dogs get to New Jersey, where they are placed in a home with one of their foster families so they can work to find that dog the wonderful permanent home that they need.

One of the dogs at the Home for Good Dog Rescue who currently needs her own forever family to love is 2-year-old Mary Jane.

Mary Jane is a "lovable" 44-pound Labrador Retriever/Bulldog who had a really terrible start to her life.

Mary Jane was living in a place where someone was hoarding her and other dogs. She was also forced to have puppies constantly so that person could make money off of her.

As soon as Home for Good Dog Rescue saved her from the hoarding situation where she was in, they treated her for mange and heartworm disease.

To this day, Mary Jane has completed her heartworm treatment and is free of that, and her mange has also been treated as well.

In a Facebook post dedicated to Mary Jane, Home for Good Dog Rescue explained that her foster mom has nothing but wonderful things to say about her.

Her foster mom mentioned that Mary Jane is "the sweetest girl" who knows how to walk nicely on a leash, and knows how to not have accidents in the house.

"Mary Jane has her lazy moments of relaxing on the couch but she also loves to play and zoom around," her foster mom said.

"She plays wonderfully with toys but prefers squeaky toys. Mary Jane is obsessed with sunbathing in the yard, after a roll in the grass of course."

"Mary Jane gets along great with other dogs but does need some time to warm up and get used to their company. Mary Jane would do best in a home with older children since she enjoys jumping up for hugs."

Mary Jane learns very quickly and has figured out how to lay down, how to sit, and how to wait until you tell her to eat her food.

Mary Jane would do best with a family who also does not have a cat in the home.

If you would like to adopt Mary Jane, you can fill out an application for her here, while also looking into the adoption requirements that Home for Good Dog Rescue has.
